is a moment of peace

in an unrelenting storm

a voice for tenderness

when everyone screams fury and hatred

these words speak only

of love’s deepest longing

to be seen and known

so many people are so afraid

they build a wall

around their hearts

hoping for protection

but it doesn’t protect them

it just makes them cold and arrogant

or terrified and withdrawn

don’t be like them

but take down the wall

brick by blessed brick

until you are naked

love’s blazing majesty

will find you there

and through you

the world will be reborn.
