Admitting Past Brokenness

Admit that what happened hurt you
It broke something open
That created a fracture
And you have been carrying that fracture
For years
Coping, compensating, projecting
Sometimes dragging it around
Like an unwanted gift
Always aware of this heaviness

But slowly something has changed
And now you realize that
What seemed like a burden
Has actually served you
Has forged you, grown you,
Deepened you
And opened your heart
And you no longer resent it
Or hold a grievance
But actually you love it
And in loving it
You let go of it

And now you are free
To love fully
To hold others in tenderness
To carry your wounds
As a blessing and not as a curse

You are the wounded healer.
