We scurry about
In our self importance
And love looks on
We proclaim ourselves
Owners of our empires
Prideful and arrogant
And love looks on
We reject and abandon
We judge and we hate
And love looks on
With cruel heart
And righteous mind
We hurt those we love
And those we hate
And love looks on
We divide life
Into good and bad
According to our beliefs
And we deride those
Who disagree
And love looks on
What hope is there
If we don’t turn our gaze
And look through love’s eyes.
