On the surface
The waves contort
In confused patterns
They push and pull
In frenzied manner
This way, that way
An endless drama
With no end
But deeper down
There is silence
A kind of serenity
With less effort needed
The waves are seen
And not resisted
Yet this stillness
Is unaffected
The deepest holds it all
It’s where the roots are
And yet we place our attention
Only on the waves
And wonder why
We feel lost and exhausted
He, or she, who ignores
Their deeper most truth
Is destined for frustration
And the feeling
That something is missing
Because it is
Go deeper
Become a diver
It doesn’t matter what you find
It’s in the diving
You discover who you are.
