Embrace Your Wounds

After a fractured life of complete avoidance
That led me nowhere but misery
I faced myself
And decided to love what I saw
I included all that had been excluded
And shone the light of love
On my own darkness

What happened over time
Was a complete reconfiguration
Of the whole of me
From fragmented to whole
It was as though everything
That had been off line
Came on line
And in that coming home
Everything changed
And I became fully myself

When our wounds are embraced
They become our gifts
Denied they become our burden.

This is not theory. It is my experience.
