When our sense of security is threatened
Our deep primal survival instinct upended
Do we soften into a deep tenderness
Do we open our hearts and minds into acceptance
Or do we become triggered into panic
And the relentless stories of ‘this shouldn’t be happening,’
This is the path of the spiritual warrior
To stand in dignity and love anyway
To hold the line of goodness anyway
To be open to feel it all anyway
And for it to bring a radical intensity to life
There is a great window opened amidst us
We can look through it and see what we value
What we take for granted
What our deepest fears are
We can see all our vulnerabilities clearly
And we can choose how we respond
Are we pulled into the drama
Or can we practice moment by moment awareness
Surfing the rise and fall of the waves
Eve though others may be crazy
You and I can maintain our inner composure
Be still in all the movement
Practice self care and take compassionate action
To stand for dignity and humility
Is a service to others
Whether they see it or not.
