Kindness is the key
It brings us back to what is important
Runaway mind eases into the background
(Before it returns like freight train)
And we are back in the present moment
Softly and tenderly
Kindness is the antidote to fear
It doesn’t try and stop it or answer it
It simply offers a tender hand to it
Kindness says,’Yes I know, and still I love
Even though all this is happening
I stay with openness and love.’
There is no greater power
Not just in a crisis but always
For life is imbued with death and tragedy
And we get to either shrink into self
And meet existence with argument
Or we go beyond and embrace kindness
This kindness starts with us
And emanates out to the world
It heals us and those it touches
It is strength and true power
Manifested even in the face of pain
Even in the face of fear
Believe me, I have tried all alternatives
And realized that only the deepest
And most tender kindness
Works.
