ON HUMILITY

Only the humble man or woman
Can know the deepest peace

The righteous ego, built on its pridefulness,
Has no capacity to know humility

For true humility is the sacrifice
Of the righteous ego itself

And the righteous ego
Will do everything in its power
To maintain its own existence

Ironically, while the ego tells the world
That humility is the greatest weakness there is,
The truth is the opposite
And humility opens the door
To the miraculous natural power of the universe

While the ego is busy trying to acquisition
All the power for itself.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5)
Blessed = Happy and peaceful
Meek = Gentle of spirit, humble and true
Inherit the earth = Become natural

All Our Ancestors

To a certain extent
Ancestral heritage
Is the passing on
Of unresolved wounds
Hardship and pain
Survivalism and suffering

That which our ancestors
Could not meet and transform
Is passed on like a hot coal
To the next generation
On and on it goes
Even on the cellular level

We are vibrationally and energetically
The carriers of our ancestors
Some of our deepest unknowable movements
May have the fragrance
Of countless generations in them

And now you and I are here
With the opportunity
To end the ancestral passing on
Of unmet wounds

You and I
Are where the buck stops
And the resolution, forgiveness and love
We can find in ourselves
Will be passed on, not just to future generations,
But even on some mysterious level
To those ancestors who played some part
In bringing us here

That’s how important our transformation is.

BITTER SWEET

Oh! the bitter sweet taste of this life
The endless searching for the sweet
And the turning away from the bitter
Yet this bitter taste
Is unavoidable
And, tough as it may be,
We must somehow find a way
To reconcile these seeming opposites

There is a place within us
That knows the bitter and the sweet
To be the same
May our true search be for that resting place.

WELCOME THE WORLD HOME

The world of your experience
Wants to come home
And it can only do it through you

You are the way
That the world becomes purified
And you can only do this
By opening so wide
Into the deepest acceptance
That everything is allowed
To find its true resting place

This itself is profound
And is how the world is healed.

TIME TO BLOSSOM – Dedicated to YOU

The human experience
Carries the potential for greatness
Or terrible tyranny

We are latent beings
Waiting to be activated

There is adventure
Written into our code

What makes one
Rise up against all odds
Out of all suffering
And become a carrier of light

And yet another
Lauded with wealth
Cosseted with opulence
Becomes the harbinger of doom

Don’t think this lies somewhere else
It is in each of our hearts
I was a wreck, tortured by my past
Inflicting my pain of everyone

And then opportunity for change arrived
And I seized it by the forelock
Even though it terrified me

Truly it doesn’t matter what has happened
What matters is how it serves you now
Does it cripple you?
Does it feed you?
Can you use it as food for your transformation?

None of this is easy
But we must face these hard truths
We have but one short life
That may be wasted in the past
And we will miss this beauty.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
― Anais Nin

THE DANCE OF EXISTENCE

This morning
In the early hours of silent dawning
The gentle sound
Of a conversation
Wrapped me in its arms

The coyote yipped its magic and trickery
It spoke of how things are not what they seem to be
And it laughed at how serious owl was

Owl was silent for a long time
Unimpressed with coyote’s jibes
‘I see you coyote, even in this darkness,’
Said the wise owl

This jousting game continued for some time
Each taking its turn
Coyote darting around, needling owl
And owl looking on with regal nonchalance

Both carried the wisdom of the deepest intelligence
And as I lay there
Absorbed by the yip yip and the hoot hoot
I fell into a reverie
Of such beauty I wept
Everything, and everyone, all humans
And all the creatures of the world
Warm blooded and cold blooded
Flying creatures and swimming creatures
Were dancing the dance of existence
Even the trees and the plants
And the rocks and the planets
Were doing the dance of existence
Each content with its own realm of being
And each filled with joy
At seeing the others dancing
Everything in utter harmony
With everything else

When I awoke all was silence
Dawn was breaking open
Yet, somewhere in the distance,
From the top of a tall tree
A crow sang the world awake.

The Warrior Sleeps Within

We must have the resilience
To walk through this great divide
When the forces of one against the other
Threaten our very lives and safety
We must walk as wholeness and with clear seeing
With hearts open and minds unyielding to the pull of the tide

Though I walk through this
Valley of darkness and shadows
I will not yield my openness
Neither will I fall back into fear

Although the threat seems real
Only love’s tender embrace of all life
Has the power to transform
Coal to diamonds

In extraordinary times
A secret power arises within us
The warrior sleeps quietly within
But, upon the call of the distant horn,
Awakens and prepares
In silent prayer

It is you, and it is I,
Who are the guardians of love
Who are the gatekeepers of the tender heart.

Be Still

My friend, in all this turbulence
Be still
In the throes of division and accusation
Be still

As the enemy pulls his sword ready for battle
Be still
As the storm looms overhead
And threatens a mighty deluge
Be still

While others rage and scream
And the harbingers of doom
Bemoan the end of the world
Be still
Even as the ocean spews its waves
That crash in thunderous anger
Upon the shore
Be still

Be still
There is a part of us
Beyond all form
When we remember it
We fall into a peace
That heals all division.

In These Delicate Times, Find Stillness

Friend, in these delicate times
Where the future seems so uncertain
And division itself
Appears to have taken over the host
Where answers appear and dissolve in the blink of an eye
Where the desperate and disenfranchised
Clutch at the only recourse they have
And when the sickness of money, power and corruption
Has been revealed as the true virus
I can only say this

Don’t jump into the fear
Don’t jump into the future
Don’t feed the hungry ghost of alienated mind
Don’t fan the flames of conflict
Don’t give allegiance to imagination

But stay here, even for a few minutes
In the quiet
Switch off whatever noise there is
And become the stillness itself
Allow the incessant movement to come to rest
And sense the nourishment that lies within

There is an unlimited energy source inside everything.
