Intimacy – The Hidden Treasure

Intimacy is what happens
When the soul is laid bare
And received
With an open heart

It has nothing to do with sex

Intimacy is where
Openness meets itself
Beyond the walls of self protection

It is the ultimate display of rebellion
In a superficial world

But it has nothing to do with sex

To be intimate with anyone or anything
You have to be willing
To reveal your innermost
To explore your depths
And to hear without judgement
To be able to sit
In the complete unknown
Even as the fire might rage

Intimacy is being comfortable
In the discomfort
Of the unknown
Because this intimacy
Is where love lives

It is the secret treasure
Only the authentic explorer
Can discover.

Ready For Love

I wasn’t ready for love
When it arrived
It shook me to the core
And in that shaking
Everything fell out

I fell so deep into love’s ocean
I drowned
But in drowning
Something new was born

The I that had struggled so hard
The one that fought the world
And battled for survival
Was no longer in control
Had become but a tiny whisper

Instead there was devotion to truth
An openness and a service to love itself
A warrior arose
Someone real
Who had no need for defenses
No need to attack
This new one wore no mask
Played no games
Yet was not weak
But strangely powerful

There is only one force
That can change this world
And that is love

But it requires a kind of death
Of the one who is defended.

Set Love Free

Love has a purpose
Unseen and mysterious
Ignored by all those
Who claim it for themselves
“It’s my love,
I love you, love me for who I am,” They cry
But love laughs

Love is not for ownership
You cannot keep love for yourself
Its purpose is to flow and spread
It is unconcerned with ideas of ownership
Or even relationship
It is as free as the wind
When you think you have it
It may well slip through your fingers like dust

Ego wants to own everything
It offers the illusion of power
In the vastness of eternity
And the mystery of existence

And so it claims love for itself

Love is the breath of God
Its purpose is to fill the lungs and heart
With divine resonance
Love is the gift we are given
From infinite intelligence
It is our communion with the divine
While we are here in form
It is our connection, our memory
Of home

Set love free from bondage friend
Let it fly and find it’s own way
Don’t trap it and lock it up
Open the doors and windows
And throw away the cage
And see what freedom arises
In your heart and soul.

Love is a Gamble

Love is a gamble
A risk
It’s an open hand
In a closed hand game
The deeper the love
The greater the gamble
What can you lose?
Everything you were
Every strategy of defense
Every wall you built
In the name of protection
The stakes are high
The pot is great
What do you win?
Freedom and joy.

My Wife, The Fire

My wife is a fire that has consumed me
Burned up all that was not love
And left me naked, empty
And full of grace

She is a mustang
A wild, untamable creature
Who responds only to trust
And unconditional love
To try and limit that nature
Is to either kill it
Or create a firestorm

This woman is Kali
Faced with lies and deception
She may turn into a spinning vortex
Of crazy energy
A black hole
That sucks all matter in
Without mercy

She is death to ego
So filled with unconditionality
But don’t think
She is some sweet new age tantrica
She is not….

My Wife, the Fire.

My Lover and I.

We are traveling, my lover and I,
Through this mysterious world,
Side by side for a time
Yet still utterly alone

There is an exquisite beauty
That love offers
When embraced in it’s totality
A door opens to eternity
And grace itself seems to welcome you in

You cannot fall deeply into love’s arms
Without all war ending within you
There is no room for anything else
But love’s surrender

My lover and I,
We know all this
We know that we will have to say goodbye
And leave each other
But oh my!
To have been able to taste
The simple yet profound flavor
Of love’s purest nectar
Is worth a hundred thousand years
Of aloneness.

Oh My Love

Oh my love
However did we find this?
We fell into a love so deep and vast
So timeless and free
So clear and accepting
That no attempt to describe it
Gets anywhere near

When someone asks me
How long we have been together
I say ‘Forever,’
And if they ask
What our secret is
I say, ‘Grace.’

In truth I cannot answer their questions
There is nothing the mind can say
That would explain
This bewildering simplicity.
