WISE UP

Those who does not know themselves
Cannot discern the difference
Between the snake oil seller
And the wise one
And will often follow the snake oil seller
Because their persuasive techniques
Appeal to the unmet emotions
Still held in the unexamined and unconscious system

Wisdom is not quite so easily fooled

We are in the intensity of those times.

MASTERY OF THE SELF

He or she
Who can master
The agitated self
The obsessive self
The righteous self
The self that seeks power
The aggrandized self
The arrogant one
The worthless one
The self that imagines it is special
And the one that imagines it is not
The self that is constantly at war

Is free
And an asset to the liberation of others

He or she who is mastered by the self
Is a slave to their own ignorance
And a danger to the liberation of others

Mastery of self
Has nothing to do with force
And everything to do with
Surrendering the ego
To love’s all consuming fire

Without humility
The rampaging ego
Will rule the earth
Creating endless division
And feeding on
The fear it creates

Inner freedom loves
The freedom of others.

REMEMBERING HEART

A collective that cannot share its sorrows
Cannot sit together in its grief and suffering

And see each one in the eyes of the other

A people so lost in individuation
It loses its humanity

Has not lost its mind
It has lost its heart
Forgotten itself
Fallen under a spell

The task of the restless one
Is to remember their own heart
Uncover it from all that has covered it
And then to shine it out
So others may also remember theirs

That is all we can really do
The rest is up to the divine.

STOP TRYING TO FIX EVERYTHING

How easily we can offer another
Our opinion or insight
How deftly our guidance
Rolls off the tongue with such knowing

Yet how difficult it is
To just sit silently with another
As they grieve or rage
Or moan with confusion

No, we are trained to be fixers
And we do it to the best of our ability

But when the other says
‘Stop trying to fix me,’
We are lost, and affronted,
And confused

Largely because we have no capacity
To be with ourselves
Without trying to do the same thing.

The Beloved Says…

The Beloved says…

Go forth into the realm of form
Be an emissary of the light

Seek to be unattached
Even as attachment
Wraps you in its arms
With its sweet and tempting offers

Seek to stay as love
Even as fear grabs you
By the neck
And breathing becomes labored

Seek mastery of desire
Even as the lure of comfort
And the veil of security
Draws you toward it

You will become lost in that place
And then, child of the light,
Remember to dance
Remember to laugh and sing
To grieve and cry in the devastation
To soak in the pouring rain
As it drenches your wounded heart

And let that remembering itself
Be the light that you carry
To share with others
Who have forgotten.

TURN OFF

At some point
You have to turn off
The internal and external narration
And see what remains

Turn off the news
Turn off the radio
Stop reading the latest reports
Of whatever agenda is current
And cease listening
To the constant babble
From the agitated mind

And see what remains
See how the organism
Quietens and softens
And begins to live
From a deeper
And more natural intelligence

It’s not ignorance
It’s sanity.

FIND THE DIVINE WITHIN

Friend, I beseech you,
Search within, without cessation,
Let your deepest longing
Become your living truth
Seek that divine connection
That is your essence
Remember, remember, remember
Do not allow trauma, wounding, deceit,
Abuse, conditioning and dream spell
To isolate you any longer

It is our inherent nature
To be guided and held
By our direct connection to the divine
It IS our living truth

Forgotten or stolen
We walk as ghosts
Incomplete and bereft
Traumatized and helpless

But all it takes is a flash of illumination
And remembering begins
And we fall into right relationship
This is our true authority
And it is our sole purpose
To shine the light of our knowing
Onto the darkness of the world.

The Cliff Falls Into the Ocean

I don’t know how it happened
It just gradually happened
As if by itself
In its own time
Without me noticing
The switch
From the separating of things
To everything being included
And being fundamentally accepted
I don’t know how it happened
It wasn’t something I did
But eventually the separate self
Dissolved into unity

Maybe it was as inevitable
As the cliff that finally falls into the ocean
After countless years of erosion

It wasn’t a big bang
No trumpets or fanfare
Nothing grandiose
Just a simple shift
Almost imperceptible
And entirely natural
As though the final step
Was the smallest
As though the final breath
Was the ‘Ahhh,’ of the final release.
