Live From Warrior Heart

There is a place within each heart
That knows goodness
And the justness of things
Yet we become twisted and turned
By mind’s clever arguments

The one who will not rest in their depth
Is vulnerable to those who circle their camp
In separation we are full of fear and doubt
And we will never know peace

But when we know ourselves as each other
And live from our warrior hearts
We will claim back our authority
And do what is necessary
For the good of all

These are important times
How we resonate matters
It’s love and the responsibility that comes with it
Or it’s fear and the isolation that results from it
We must choose, each moment, each interaction,
Each day, each time we see the news,
Each thought, each breath we take

Feed goodness.

Fear and Fearlessness

One has to be very discerning with fear, to really look at it as clearly as possible, to explore what reality it really has, to whom, and to be open to how much of that fear is being created by the imagination running away into future possibilities.

Fear can easily become a runaway train unless it is seen clearly, and that seeing may allow whatever message it actually has to be conveyed.

But unexamined fear is a wild fire that spreads quickly and easily, depending on how potent the kindling is.

To be fearless doesn’t mean there is no fear, it means that whatever fear is there is realized as being an illusion of the conditioned self. It means fear is seen, valued, held and allowed, but not given unnecessary weight or power.

You cannot fight fear, but you can take the charge out of it by seeing it and acknowledging it. If a child is freaking out with panic you wouldn’t say, ‘OK take over the driving seat of the car,’ so why give fear the driving seat of your life?

That is what I mean, it must be seen clearly to discover its truth or not.

Fear is not the problem. Giving our allegiance to fear is the problem.

Hold the Line of Goodness in Troubled Times

When our sense of security is threatened
Our deep primal survival instinct upended
Do we soften into a deep tenderness
Do we open our hearts and minds into acceptance
Or do we become triggered into panic
And the relentless stories of ‘this shouldn’t be happening,’

This is the path of the spiritual warrior
To stand in dignity and love anyway
To hold the line of goodness anyway
To be open to feel it all anyway
And for it to bring a radical intensity to life

There is a great window opened amidst us
We can look through it and see what we value
What we take for granted
What our deepest fears are
We can see all our vulnerabilities clearly
And we can choose how we respond

Are we pulled into the drama
Or can we practice moment by moment awareness
Surfing the rise and fall of the waves

Eve though others may be crazy
You and I can maintain our inner composure
Be still in all the movement
Practice self care and take compassionate action

To stand for dignity and humility
Is a service to others
Whether they see it or not.

Warrior of Love

Even though I may be knocked down
And everything taken from me
Even if the worst may happen
As it does for some innocent people
And even though they may try and get me to hate
I will not

The journey to get to love
Has been too tough
Has forged me like a blade
And turned me to a warrior
And even though what may happen
Will be terrible
I will not become like that
I will not surrender my love
I will not become hate
It is too painful to bear
And I will never stoop that low

There is a kind of dignity
The warrior carries
An inner flame
An inner voice that says,
‘I will not be ruled
By anyone else
I will serve that which is true
And I will never yield that.’

This is my aspiration
To be bold of heart
And present of mind
And meet all of this hate
Like a warrior of love.
